In response to the large scale regeneration of an area called Ballymun on the outskirts of Dublin city, Rhona developed a project called ‘Home’ in collaboration with the Ballymun racing pigeon club and the residents of the tower blocks to be demolished. Hundreds of wishes were collected from local residents. These wishes were then attached to the legs of approx 300 homing pigeons and as an event the pigeons carrying the wishes on their legs, were released from the balconies of one of the tower blocks. The project created an opportunity for the residents to express individual emotional reactions and aspirations during this time of change.
Documentation of the project was presented as an exhibition in the Axis Arts Centre in 2004. The exhibition opening hosted a young pigeon auction. A book was also published documenting the process in 2004.
